Blue Parakeet Rugs Add Depth and Soul to a 1930s LA Cottage in House Beautiful

We are beyond thrilled to be part of this gorgeous House Beautiful feature! When designer Velinda Hellen, senior designer Julie Rose, and the incredibly talented stylist Emily Edith Bowser called us in to help bring some floor love to a charming 1930s Colonial cottage in Los Angeles, we couldn't have been more excited. We've worked with Velinda, Julie, and Emily for years now, and every time we collaborate, the results just sing.

Perched above the Santa Monica Mountains, this sweet cottage was ready for a refresh — and the team reimagined it beautifully in just a few short months, layering warmth, color, and personality into every corner. We arrived with a mix of antique rugs both large and small, ready to add depth and culture throughout the home.

The all-star moment has to be the dining room. A beautifully woven early-1900s Persian Tabriz with a striking ice-blue ground and floral art sprawling across its field anchors the space, helping define the room and giving it that sense of history and soul that only an antique rug can deliver. But the smaller touches matter just as much — a tiny Baluch scatter rug tucked into the bathroom adds a whisper of warmth and story to a space most people overlook. Both pieces made it into the House Beautiful feature, and that makes our hearts so full.

It's always special when the rugs become part of a home's transformation — not just decoration, but the layer that ties everything together. Huge thanks to Velinda, Julie, and Emily for trusting us to be part of this one, and to House Beautiful for the beautiful spotlight.
