Blue Parakeet Rugs in Kate Hudson’s Pacific Palisades Kitchen

It’s a wonderful treat to see Blue Parakeet Rugs making an appearance in Architectural Digest, and in none other than Kate Hudson’s newly renovated Pacific Palisades kitchen. Her project, aptly named Blue Jean Baby, is a love letter to nostalgia, color, and craftsmanship. Inspired by the warmth of her childhood home and the vibrant hues of Southern Italy, Hudson’s kitchen strikes a rare balance between Hollywood heritage and heartfelt design. At the center of it all is that eye-catching blue marble island, paired with Café appliances and bursts of yellow and blue throughout, creating a space that’s full of personality, play, and soul.

Grounding all that shine and color? A stunning trio of antique Chinese rugs from Blue Parakeet Rugs. These handwoven pieces bring a deep sense of history to the space, softening the gleam of marble and brass with rich texture and time-worn beauty. Each rug adds a soulful layer to the design, making the kitchen feel lived-in and welcoming, exactly the kind of gathering space Hudson envisioned for her family. We’re honored to see old-world rugs featured in such a modern, joyful renovation.

Special thanks to interior stylist Catherine Dash and assistant stylist Helen Highfield for bringing these antique treasures to life so perfectly. Head over to Architectural Digest to read all about it and scroll the amazing photos of this space!
