8'4" x 11'2" Antique Bibikabad Rug

8'4" x 11'2" Antique Bibikabad Rug

This is a beautiful blue Bibikabad, a village from the Hamadan region of Persia. Hand knotted with vegetable dyed wool, this rug has wide borders that frame the field of the rug, which many Bibikabads have. Due to the unique weaving style of this village, which is related to Malayer in technique, these rugs are pretty recognizable. It features curvilinear floral, all over pattern. Much of the floral design includes tree of life and floral blossoms.

The main colors of this vegetable dye wool rug include an indigo blue field, rusty red borders or can be considered burnt orange, dark baby blue, toasted tan, light pistachio, dark peach and ivory. Low pile. Has some wear as expected, parallel with its age.

Size: 8’4” x 11’2”
Hand Knotted from the 1880's.
